FAQs

Question – Why would working with The Image Incubator be beneficial to me?

Answer – I truly believe that everyone should always be working towards becoming and being your best self. I don’t believe in just picking out clothes for someone and sending them on their merry way. I want to help you develop an image and style that is all your own, and honestly reflects who you are on the inside. I don’t want you to feel like you’re an imposter in someone else’s clothes. I will take the time to get to know you and assist in fostering an image that you can be proud of, no matter where you’re going and what you’re doing. In the Bay Area, I know there can be a fine line of looking like you don’t care and looking effortless, but I will help you navigate that journey in a way that suits who you are and your lifestyle.

Question – Aren’t stylists/image consultants mainly for women?

Answer – One might think that, but I think men can sometimes be the most in need of someone to help them create a style and persona all their own. Boosting confidence through your image is one of the most important things you can do to represent yourself to the outside world. I would say to anyone that you want to make sure that your insides match your outsides. It affects everything from your position in the workplace, to picking someone up at a bar. It would be nice if the world did not rely on our outward appearances to judge us, but unfortunately it does, and first impressions are everything. Whether you feel fairly confident already, or you’re simply trying to fake it until you make it, I can help.

Question – Couldn’t I just try an online service like Stitch Fix or Trunk Club to help revamp my wardrobe?

Answer – The service provided through these online “styling” companies essentially consist of a stylist taking 20 minutes to throw a few pieces in the box that they think you might like based on the questionnaire you filled out. As much as these companies tout it as a personalized experience, that’s not really what you’re getting. It’s also key to remember that algorithms still don’t sub for an actual human spending time on you based on a real conversation. So, if you want to try out a few, trendy pieces that may lack in value and quality to add to your existing wardrobe then go for it. However, if you want a truly personalized experience where I spend time with you and really take the time to help you cultivate what works for you based on YOU and your lifestyle, as well as making sure you are getting your money’s worth, then my services are for you.

Question – Isn’t updating my wardrobe going to be a very expensive undertaking?

Answer – I am a firm believer that you can dress well on different types of budgetary constraints and I will work with you to find a good balance with yours. That being said, your image and your wardrobe is an investment in yourself and in quality pieces that will carry you through all walks of your life and for years to come.

Question - Do you work with those interested in sustainable and/or secondhand clothing avenues?

Answer - Totally! It may take a lot more time and research, but I’m a big fan of going this route and have been trying to implement it more in my own personal wardrobe.

Question – What is a capsule wardrobe?

Answer – A capsule wardrobe is a practical, minimalist approach to your wardrobe typically made up of a limited amount of classic, interchangeable pieces. They tend to fall into a similar style and color palette. An example might be as basic as having something like five different tops, three bottoms, four pairs of shoes, one jacket, etc. When working with me, I will help create a capsule wardrobe that suits your needs and lifestyle, as well as simplifying getting ready and still looking put together.
